Saturday Series Rewarding Kordes Roses
In 1887, at the young age of 22, Wilhelm Kordes founded a nursery in a small town north of Hamburg, Germany. Wilhelm began propagating roses and became a respected grower of his time. In later years, he partnered with his father and brother to expand rose production in the 1930’s.
The Kordes breeding program is now one of the largest in the world. Their meticulous commitment to quality is demonstrated through intense testing. Each year, thousands of Kordes roses undergo rigorous evaluation and field trials. The trials last seven years before a very small sampling of roses is selected and released to the public.
Kordes roses are known for strong disease resistance, winter hardiness, and an abundance of flowers with rapid rebloom. They offer exceptional fragrance, vigorous growth habit, and are suitable for containers.
