Hibiscus plants need full sun to thrive, so be sure to consider that when choosing your planting location. They also need to be protected from the wind as the stems can be susceptible to breakage on some of the taller growing varieties. 

Make sure the soil that is used to plant the hibiscus is well-draining and rich in organic matter and nutrients. Hibiscus will also need to be fertilized regularly with fertilizers that are high in phosphorus and nitrogen. Founders Fish Fertilizer is a great way to provide a readily available source of nitrogen for the hibiscus roots to absorb. Worm castings are also a great source of potassium, phosphorus, and natural humus that are highly beneficial to hibiscus. 

Hibiscus plants will need to be deadheaded after each bloom cycle to help it flower more profusely through the summer.
