After a rascally rabbit nibbled off the first about-to-open bud on this rose, I've waited to be wowed by the second bloom. And wowed I am! Frida Kahlo is a stunner in my part-shade rose garden in Michigan!
It arrived from Heirloom Roses so well packaged, and I was pleased to unwrap it and discover such a healthy bare-root plant with strong canes.
I'm waiting to say 'wow' as each of the other blooms opens!
I planted three bushes on Mother’s Day the 11th of May. Two Frida Kahlo and one Westerland. It’s June 10th and of the roses has already bloomed! Very soon there will be more. I’m so excited. Highly recommend buying roses from Heirloom Roses!! Peep the progress pics ;)
I bought this rose because I had a tough spot were I had failure before with another and was looking for a rose that could handle a bit of shading & had extra disease resistance. I’m in zone 6a. So I bought this one for those qualities more so than the color but what surprised me was how beautiful this rose is in person. It grew and is blooming profusely within two months. I did replace all the soil underneath so maybe that helped as well .
Arrived in great shape. It’s planted and filling out nicely. Got nibbled on by rabbits so it is now behind a scat mat to discourage wildlife. Doing very well
