Fritillaria Meleagris Mix

Note: Bulbs ship starting in October based on availability and your zone, unlike other products. Plant around or after your first frost but before the ground freezes.

Fritillaria is a unique flower and a rising trend in gardens. This mix of Fritillaria features bright white blooms and unique purple to plum blooms with stunning checkerboard patterns. A gorgeous addition for early spring flowers!

As a shorter flower, Fritillaria do best at the front of beds and borders where they won’t be crowded out by tulips and daffodils. They prefer consistently moist soil with some shade during the day. They are deer resistant and will naturalize well. Fritillaria do not do well in pots but can be a cut flower, though it may impact next year’s flower production.

Fritillaria Meleagris Mix is sold in packs of 10 for fall planting.

Planting Instructions:

  1. Choose an area with partial shade to full sun that has good drainage and does not have standing water after rain.

  2. Wear gloves when touching the bulbs as some gardeners with sensitive skin may notice an irritation.

  3. Dig a hole 3-6” deep and mix compost with soil at the bottom of the hole. Plant the bulbs 4” below the soil line.

  4. Place bulbs 4” apart on their sides, and then gently pack the soil over the bulb. The bulb may have a small hole at the top where last year’s stem grew; this is normal. Planting on its side prevents water from pooling in this opening and risking rot.

  5. Water once and then not again till spring. Water in the growing season with 1” of water per week.
