Kanegem is the only rose that I've ever bought more than one of. The color is so bright and rich, almost a fluorescent orange-red. I also love the form of the rose bush. My oldest Kanegem is only a couple years old, so I don't know what it will look like in the future, but it has stayed pretty compact so far, about 3 feet tall and wide. It doesn't shoot out and take over lots of space like some of my other roses. I especially appreciate that the color doesn't fade much at all here in our extreme high-desert sun. I'm in Albuquerque, NM. A lot of roses get bleached out by the sun here, but not Kanegem. A very healthy, vigorous rose that doesn't cause me problems.
I have this rose in my front yard and if I had room I'd purchase more. We live in the beautiful pacific northwest. So with all the rain it is healthy. And this rose will bloom from spring til the first hard frost! Its a wide plant and has very showy red-orange color! Very nice in bouquetstoo. I very often get compliments, as it will be in bloom when my other roses have finished. It will hold up to the warm weather just fine.
Box came damaged so large bud fell off but immediately new buds formed and shiny green leaves. Been 6 weeks and first bloom is gorgeous red orange - perfect pointed petals have opened to 3 1/2 inches. Three more buds are almost ready to bloom. I love it! ( no fragrance ) It arrived at the hottest days of Texas summer and is growing great!
I am in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I have purchased a total of 4 from Heirloom Roses. Two are in full sun and two are in semi-shade. All do great in our high desert environment. They do not fade like other orange roses that I have (Kordes Brilliant, Flaming Kardinal, or Cary Grant). It is disease resistant, which for me is no blackspot and no thrips. Each bush has lovely dark green leaves and each consistently blooms. It is heat hardy. We are not like Phoenix or Tuscon, but do get days over 100 degrees each year. I have 269 rose bushes and these are among the best.
