Delivered August 23rd, very well packaged. Arrived with no leaves and potted up into a large container a week later. Has lots of new growth and already put out a large beautiful flower! Thank you Heirloom roses!!
Even from a young age she blooms constantly and beautifully. I am very happy with my purchase. Scent is unmatched
I live in the Macungie area of Pennsylvania (zone 7A), and in the many years we’ve been living here (8+ years), this rose bush has been around (it came with the house, so we don’t exactly know how old our rose bushes are).
This one has been through some brutal cold snaps and some hot, sticky, humid weather. It wasn’t until last year that my grandmother and I started giving it attention, along with another Hybrid Tea Rose that’s a solid yellow (still trying to figure out that one’s name).
I ended up playing around with an idea of eating rose petals when Grams and I got into that discussion one day, and after researching that all 150 varieties are actually edible (provided they’re not sprayed with toxic pesticides), I tried it, and oh my my!
The petals to this rose are so, so lovely, delicate, and velvety in the mouth. It’s a wonderful, luxurious feeling that overwhelms the senses of taste and smell. Now, Grams and I are actually invested in taking care of our roses, and buying a half dozen more of different kinds.
I will say that this lovely rose does have a tendency to get some black spotting on it during the high heat and humid days but with proper, timely treatment and careful attention, she flourishes incredibly well.
Sadly, my area is infested with an invasive species known as the spotted lantern fly, and they are just DRAWN to this rose. So, I’m still researching how best to keep those buggies off my rose babies with ways that are not toxic for human consumption.
I received my rose bush on the first of June. I was quite pleased to discover it already had leaves. I planted it the same day and not quite three weeks later it already has a bloom on it! I'm very pleased. I hope it continues to grow well over the rest of the season~
