I’ve tried growing Souvenir de La Malmaison twice before, once from grafted stock and once from an own-root from a local nursery. Heirloom never has it in stock, but I finally got one on the wait list. This time I got a healthy looking plant that’s doing very well.
Planted this rose in a container in May and wasn't expecting much to happen this year. To my surprise, the rose has been in constant bloom since the beginning of July. I wish I could post a photograph.
This rose grows vigorously in Las Vegas, NV. Second year and it is 4 feet high and loaded with blooms. This is the second house where I have planted it. Very fragrant. Not the greatest cut flower, bur one of my favorite roses.
This rose, which I planted last spring, survived the triple digit summers here in AZ. I did end up draping a shade cloth over it in late July. It has probably tripled in size and has produced quite a few blooms. Very happy with it!
