Midnight Blue is a nearly black, velvet purple 2 ½” rose with 25+ petals and a spice clove fragrance, like no other rose on the market. Despite being a Shrub, this compact rounded plant will lend itself to smaller spaces and enrich any landscape. Expect bright, green leaves that contrast nicely to the mysteriously colored flowers with showy, yellow stamens. Big clusters of blossoms will result in lots of color on this very popular continually blooming rose bush.

Do not recommend for beginners

I really wanted to love this rose but alas it is no longer in my 6b garden. It seemed very disease susceptible, especially to blackspot. I only got a few small blossoms on it that the Japanese Beetles flocked to. It died in our very cold winter, but I wasn't too sad because it underperformed every other rose in my garden by far. I don't recommend this rose to anyone who doesn't spray. I regret spending money on this one. I'm sure there are much better alternatives.

Active Bloomer!

Just purchased this rose this spring and two months later it's putting on a beautiful display. Very pleased, gorgeous coloring, so far disease resistant.

Beautiful!

I planted this rose couple weeks ago and it's growing healthy leaves. The rose already put up the first five buds! Amazing! The color is just stunning beautiful. Looking forward to many years of blooming. My zone is 7b, Maryland.

Pretty blooms but spindly growth

A year and a half after planting, my Midnight Blue just isn’t doing much. In Zone 6b, full sun. For full disclosure, it was in fact attacked by a rabbit over the winter. Still disappointing that it doesn’t have more vigor. Blooms are indeed a satisfying rich purple-violet.
