We planted 4 of these Alec’s Red on 6/13/25 here in Ogden, UT (zone 7). They are growing wonderfully and one plant even has a rose bud. So glad I found Heirloom Roses…so many to choose from and I love the way they ship their products. Fan for life and the only place I’ll buy roses from moving forward!
Im in zone 9A, outside of Austin, TX. This rose grew so fast upon arrival!! Had to stay in it's nursery pot until I transplanted it into a bigger container, so I followed the instructions. After a few weeks, blooms are arriving and it smells so beautiful!! It's like a hot pink-red, rather than a true ruby red color. But it's beautiful and again, cannot stop smelling this rose variety. I mixed Heirloom's mint compost, cow manure and living soil into the container and think it's happy where it's at
And I truly love this rose. It was the first red I purchased. It smells amazing, and the blooms are so perfect. It's in its second year now and has really gotten going. It stayed pretty small the first year. It's just a great, classic red. A tiny bit of blackspot in my no spray garden.
