So I’m going to be honest, I really thought I killed my poor plant. A few days after the rose came, when I was prepping the ground for it to be planted, I got really sick, and while I tried my best, it took about 3 weeks for me to be well enough to finish the planter preparations and then another week to actually plant it. Despite my best efforts during my conscious/alert times, and despite being under my grow lights, it was looking a bit sad by the end of the month.
Still, I went ahead, used the Get Started Growing Bundle, planted it, did my best and hoped. It’s been a while and somehow, despite having me as its caretaker, (and what I suspect is a curious neighborhood cat interested in the smell of the fish fertilizer), my little rose bush has survived and is starting to look amazing. It’s sprouted it’s first little rose, and while the plant itself is still small, it’s got a lot of healthy greenery and I now have hope that I didn’t kill it off.
As to the plant itself, the leaves are a beautiful color and shape, from the unique red they start off, to the deep/bright green that they turn to as they mature. The rose itself is so delicate and pretty with a truly lovely color that just pops in its greenery, and most importantly, it’s hardy and able to survive my incompetent care and the heat that my zone (6-7) has been killing us with. 10/10, would recommend, and when I end up moving in a year or two, I’m going to have to try to either make a cutting, transplant, or rebuy this beautiful rose bush.
This is my first year, so the plant is still establishing herself, but the 2-3 flowers I have gotten have been a beautiful color yellow with some shadings of peach tones. Blooms have very good form. Lots of nodes where new green will shoot out, so the root system appears very healthy. I expect this to only get better as the plant matures.
