I’m so happy with this lovely rose. She arrived in great condition, put out new leaves immediately, and in just four weeks she’s produced three blooms! I have planted her in a roomy container in the corner of our garden and will train her to climb along our white picket fence. I’ve already purchased two more roses from Heirloom Roses (Seafoam) for another area of the garden.

I planted this in a spot where other roses have had a hard time getting started, fairly shaded until it gets a little height. This rose is the easiest to take care of and every bit as beautiful as the photos. I got blooms almost right away in warm weather NM. More pink than red edges. Extremely thorny.

I purchased this rose as a housewarming gift for a friend of mine when she bought her first home. We prepped the hole about 2 months before we planted the rose. We are talking about Oklahoma clay here...the planting site held water like a bowl for days. So, we dug a 2'x2' hole, added some mulch and compost to it, watered it in and I told her to throw vegetable and fruit scraps in it until the rose arrived.
She followed directions, Handel arrived healthy and beautiful (per the usual for all Heirloom roses I have purchased) and we planted it in the ground in June of 2020, added some fish fertilizer and a nice layer of cedar mulch.
LET ME TELL YOU: this thing took off like no other rose I have ever seen! We could barely keep up with training the new canes and this thing was every bit of 6 foot tall before a year was up (possibly taller, but we didn't measure)!
This year (2021) the blooms have been plentiful and absolutely gorgeous. The color is stunning! I cannot say enough good things about Handel.
I want one for myself now...just need to figure out where in the world I am going to plant a third climbing rose (haha)!

I'm in Zone 5a in Wisconsin. I planted this rose this summer and it has done very well. I haven't had any blooms, but it might get a bit too much shade from a crazy weigela kitty-corner to it; also, it has only been about 3 months or so since planting. I am training it up a trellis and have several branches to work with. The foliage is a beautiful dark green and makes for an attractive planting even without blooms. I'm very pleased with my whole Heirloom Roses order. I'm new to roses, and having spent a certain amount of time on the website reading up before creating an order, I feel that the information given was helpful and accurate. I will be back to order next spring if I can make room for more!
