These blooms are absolutely precious. On the smaller side, but full petaled, her scent is heavenly. She came to me as a very well developed plant for a bare root. Grew well in the first year and has done great through winter. I can’t wait to see her grow.

I made a hedge of Penelope Roses 20 years ago and it is beautiful. It has climbed into two tress at either end of the hedge and is easily maintained when I cut back every year, amass with flowers in spring and summer.
Vita Sackville West gave me the idea, from her book"The Illustrated Garden Book". It is a compilation of newspaper articles she wrote in the 1920's and she is a real gardener. Her husband and herself made the gardens at Sissinghurst Castle. Anyway, she recommended Penelope as a beautiful hedge rose and she was correct.

Have had great luck planting Penelope roses in Zone 8a (North Texas).

I purchased this rose and the 16" engraved metal plant stake for my mother as a gift for babysitting my 3-month-old daughter (her name is Penelope Rose). My mother could not say enough great things about it. It was delivered with a beautiful bloom on the plant (I was thinking it might arrive dormant as a stump) and she described the stake is the "limousine of stakes" and told me " it will last 100 years." She planted the rose prominently at the front of her house so people see it as they walk up the sidewalk to the front door and has gotten many compliments on it. She said it was the perfect gift and so special to commemorate her first grandchild. I was very impressed with the quality of both the rose and the name stake.
