Named for the Thomas Hardy novel, Tess of the d’Urbervilles® features large, fragrant, 4" flowers with 70+ petals in a bright crimson color. Her blooms have a nice, deeply curved shape in the early stages, and then her petals turn back to a less formal flower. Tess of the d'Urbervilles®’ blooms are hefty and usually bend over, giving an elegant, cascading effect to the bush. Her growth is robust and spreads against large, dark green foliage. We love Tess of the d'Urbervilles®’ old rose and fruity-myrrh fragrance and that she is a generous, repeat bloomer. She can handle partial shade or pots and makes an excellent Climber.

Tess ROSE

My Tess had trouble out in the open winds of Kansas but moved into town with some windbreak and she has bloomed beautifully in Liberal, KS in November. The smell is devine. I can’t wait to see the flush of Tess come next spring. It will be her second spring in 2025.

Does well in Florida

Tess is a really good rose for Florida zone 9B. It started to bloom just a month or so after planting. Now in the subsequent year since initial planting, it is a regular bloomer. It seems well suited to this heat.

Beautiful and Fragrant

I planted Tess in a partial shade near my front porch and put in a large trellis for her to climb. I planted her in May, and she is blooming in June! the blooms are very fragrant. I hope she covers the trellis and makes my front porch smell like heaven!
