Heirloom Roses was very proud to name this exceptional Shrub rose of our own hybridizing efforts in honor of the elegant star from the golden age of movies, Joan Fontaine. The wonderful, fragrant 4” blooms with 75+ begin with buds of soft, flesh pink and open to a creamy white with a glowing touch of amber in the center. The fully double, English-style flowers are carried on a striking, continual blooming plant with deep-green foliage.

Out of 20+ roses I ordered last year on this site, this one is struggling the most. It survived the 115* temperatures in July, but it just hasn't grown much at all. I will keep nurturing it and hope for more growth next year.

Gorgeous rose

Love love this rose, beautiful fragrance and perfect.

I planted this one only a few months ago and have had only one bloom, but boy was it PERFECT. The shape, the form, the petal count, everything was glorious. Like an Austin, but it held its petals for a week in a vase. The fragrance was GLORIOUS. It seems to take a couple of months to get settled here in Portland, Oregon, but it is now taking off. I couldn't be happier with this and await more of those glorious blooms. As far as disease goes, it had a bit of blackspot this spring when all my roses did (except for At Last--completely untouched) due to our insanely wet weather (12" of rain in a couple of months), but it has cleared up fine. Lovely plant. Highly recommend.

Still deciding

The blooms on this rose are as beautiful as hoped (and as previous reviewers have described). I'm in Zone 8b and while the blooms are gorgeous, the canes are so slender the blooms pull them face down. It almost appears they are climbers. Also, there is some fragrance but not the 'very fragrant" I'd anticipated based on other roses with the same description. So much so I double-checked the tags. One or two others have said the same things so perhaps I need to move it from a pot to a location where it can be supported by underplanting.

Beautiful Delicate White/Creamy Bloom

I love this rose, wonderful fragrance and perfect formation in my favorite color. I had it for only a month and started to have at least 5-6 blooms. She is currently in my vase at my desk, brighten my day... Love love her!
