- About Pulmonaria (Lungwort)
- Other Details
Pulmonaria, commonly known as Lungwort, has distinctive lance-shaped leaves speckled with silver-white spots, that create visual interest even before the flowers appear. In early spring, clusters of funnel-shaped blossoms emerge in shades of pink, blue, or violet, drawing in early pollinators. Lungwort's low-growing and spreading habit makes it an excellent ground cover, providing a lush display under a canopy of trees or in mixed planting schemes.
Growing Tips:
- Sunlight: Flourishes in partial to full shade; ideal for woodland settings or shaded borders.
- Soil: Well-draining, moist soil is preferred; amend with organic matter for enhanced fertility.
- Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist, especially during dry spells and the flowering season.
- Hardiness: Pulmonaria is generally hardy in USDA zones 3-8.
