My bush is a bit spindly but its thorny branches arch over other shorter roses in my garden with a magnificent display of fragrant pale yellow single flowers. I know that some deprecate the qualities of this rose, but I’m in love with it when it is blooming. Given its rather ugly thorny branches, I will just cut it way back so that the more lovely Kordes hybrids in front can shine when they bloom. I gave it a 4 due to the spindly stems.

Planted on a roadside berm in 2018. Had fantastic, fragrant, cheerful profusion of yellow blooms even the 1st summer. No disease & old blooms shatter off cleanly. In 2nd year, May & June, 2019, strong new growth, incredible profusion of blooms, & very fragrant. I deadhead frequently. Bloomed beautifully in August after taking July off in my Seattle area garden. Deadly thorns. Able to take strong sun and a little drought. I highly recommend this rose.

I live here in Southern California, have grown over 250 different varieties of roses here in Zone 18, from very old to very new and I have a place in my heart for rugosas. This particular one, being yellow, is unique to this class of roses and it won't disappoint. Great scent, beautiful flowers, no disease, and of course does have thorns, which discourages nibbling around my yard!
