Bred in France in the late 1800s, Blanc Double de Coubert is an offspring of Rosa Rugosa x Sombreuil. Her large, semi-double, pure white blooms have a delicate, tissue-paper texture, and are intensely fragrant. Blanc Double de Coubert produces a generous display of hips in the fall and produces tall arching canes.

Very large

This grew to be about 25 feet tall and 6 feet wide in my garden. I did cut off all the canes a few years ago and it all grew back within about 6 weeks. It’s stunning if you have the space. Beautiful foliage, beautiful blooms, very cool hips. It doesn’t need much of any care at all. Just plant it and get out of the way.

Beautiful and hardy

Love this rose. One of the first I purchased from Heirloom Roses years ago. It stands about 5 ft tall now and is starting to bloom 5/15. It will do this through summer. It likes to spread so cut the suckers. Great plant.

The most brilliant white blossoms you’ll ever see

The flowers on this plant come in a brilliant white unlike any other rose. It is incredibly hardy and blooms very early, along with the peonies in the same bed in my Zone 5b garden. Like many rugosas, it is not a beautiful plant on its own, but when it blooms, it is spectacular. Requires no care at all, making it perfect for a gardener who doesn’t want to baby a plant.

Good for border

A great little shrub. The whitest white fragrant and disease free.

out of this world fragrance

I planted April 2018 in Dallas, Texas 8B, we had a horribly hot summer, even more than usual for us. I was not expecting this rose to bloom until 2019. It gave me a little treat, right before our first freeze it offered me up on bloom. The fragrance was out of this world. I am giving this rose plenty of room in a fully sunny spot as I have read it can get 8 x 8. I am going to add an obelisk for it to climb around. Can't wait to see what 2019 holds for this beautiful fragrant rose. I will update and let you all know.
