After only 3 years my Darlow's Inigma is 5 feet tall and 5 feet wide and is constantly covered in blooms from Spring to frost! He is growing as more of a shrub for me, rather than a true rambler, so far. I planted it in front of a weeping ornamental cherry tree, in the hopes Darlow would eventually grow up the tree and cover it in white roses after spring cherry blossoms fade. So far though, it is growing as a shrub under the cherry tree. It gets 6 hours of sun- noon to late afternoon- and seems to like these conditions. It is especially early this year! It's mid April and Darlow is now blooming and covered in blooming tiny white, wild looking roses. The fragrance is mild, but the pollinators are very happy!
I planted a Darlow's Enigma rose on the corner of our property and it's doing wonderfully with not much help from me. Not ten feet from a busy road, it pours out flowers all summer until frost. It's already about 5x5 feet after three summers. Other roses in my garden have been repeatedly hit with black spot, but so far the Darlow's has shown no sign of any problem. I'm planning to plant another at the edge of the backyard to deter trespassers as it would be better than an electric fence- the thorns on this rose are no joke!
Took a while to get going, but then it put on a large flush of tiny white blooms. Super cute! Can't wait to see how it grows next year!
I haven't had this rose long, but it has put out new growth faster than any of my other heirloom roses and has already given me two blooms within the first 10 days of planting! It has the sweetest little flowers; excited for the beauty it'll be when established.
