My Garden Sun is in its first year and has done exceptionally well. It is unbothered by blackspot, has handled our Texas heat like a champ, and hasn't stopped blooming for months. The color is exceptional. It has easily grown eight feet tall in just this first season in the ground. I can't say enough good things about this rose.
This hearty work horse stretches down a picket fence and over an arbor shared with a polka rose creating a long season of constant, stunning blooms. The blossoms are gorgeous, last well in the vase, and the buds dry well for long lasting delight!
I planted this rose about two years ago in Fall 2020. It is a sturdy and long-lasting performer with excellent color retention and glossy foliage. In zone 9b it has bloomed in spring, summer, and fall. Each flower lasts for weeks on the canes, and the color gradually fades from yellow-apricot to a softer yellow that still retains a beautiful tone. I have cut one rose while in full bloom and placed it in the vase, and to my surprise the rose petals remained attached and sturdy for several weeks, outperforming other cut roses in the vase. Each flower can range from 3" to 5" in size which is larger than some other yellow rose varieties and therefore much more pronounced when viewing from a distance. This gorgeous yellow rose has exceeded my expectations.
I planted this rose in memory of my pup I lost, right under my porch so it would grow up my beams. It took off so fast in not the best soil conditions. Every year we have to stop it from growing into the roof. Even the flimsy canes produce beautiful flowers. I do have to keep it treated, not for disease, but for tiny green worms. I love how the roses are not all the same in color. Some are bright yellow, some are white, and some have orange throughout. Such a wonderful flower to have at my front door.
