When she arrived in May, she was literally a little box of sticks. It is now July, and saying she has quadrupled in size is probably an understatement. Seeing all of that growth ➡️ explained the size of the hole I was asked to dig by Heirloom. If she is showing me this much growth above ground- she is using that space underground! She is incredibly strong and healthy. I've already had to give her a support ring, some of her canes are approaching 2½ feet long, and she started blooming almost immediately.
The blooms are identical to the pictures online. Somehow they are bright and soft at the exact same time. The best way I can describe the color is a soft, glowing orange sherbet. She is almost unassuming until you see in her in person, and then you cannot stop looking at her. I notice her from the street, and against a green background she absolutely POPS. I find myself just standing there looking at her.
I chose this rose very carefully after MONTHS of going through the Heirloom Roses website, and I could not be happier with my choice.
One thing I really want to emphasize for anyone ordering from Heirloom: FOLLOW THEIR PLANTING INSTRUCTIONS. They specify a 24" × 24" planting hole. To put that into perspective, when I stood inside mine, they came up to the top of my thigh. 😂 These are MASSIVE holes. This is not a cute little digging project you knock out in five minutes.
I followed Heirloom's instructions to a T, including their recommended fish fertilizer, and it paid off immediately. She has already given me multiple blooms this summer, the growth has been incredible, and I cannot even imagine what this plant is going to look like next year.
I've been extremely happy with the quality of the plants I've received from Heirloom. They arrived looking like little boxes of sticks, but they are actually are healthy, vigorous plants ready to take off once they were in the ground. Based on my experience, I would imagine plenty of people never need to use that warranty simply because of the quality.
My biggest advice? The day you place your order is the day you should start digging. 😂 If you wait and then start digging you will meet the moment where you question if they really need a hole that size, and the answer is THEY DO !🧡😂 Do NOT do what I did and wait until your roses are sitting at your house waiting for their holes. I ended up realizing exactly how large that hole is once my girls had arrived and I knew they needed to get into the ground, and that size hole takes time!! For reference, a standard two drawer filing cabinet is 24" tall, and that is how deep this hole is. Heirloom is asking that so that the roots of your future rose have the space she needs!
