  • TREND ALERT! There are so many reasons to love this rose - her fragrance, the large, apricot blooms, and how she keeps her color without fading are just a few! Sunbelt® South Africa® was the recipient of the Gold Standard Award in 2009 and the Glasgow Gold Medal in 2006. She is simply dripping with large, rich, amber-colored, double blossoms that are non-fading and can be seen from across the garden. Her lush, romantic blooms of moderate fragrance are simply delightful. Sunbelt® South Africa® has dark green foliage, and the bush is upright and maturing between 4' - 5' tall.

Bloomed right away! So cute!

I ordered several roses and this one is one I put in the ground about a month ago. It’s mid summer in zone 8a so I was a little worried but I mulched around her and have been watering regularly. She bloomed a few days ago with the first bloom. Can’t wait to see her grow and flourish! Nice bright yellow

A real workhorse!

I bought this rose along with many others from HR in the fall of 2024. As soon as spring arrived this year, South Africa took off growing like mad! She is very vigorous and healthy; while some of my other roses are absolutely swarming with aphids (looking at you, Honeymoon), she doesn’t show a single sign of pests or disease. I will say, her blooms are not at all apricot for me. I’d call them more of a canary yellow. Not exactly what I wanted, but pretty nonetheless! Perhaps it’s heat or age-related, we will see in time. Either way, I cannot fault this lovely rose and highly recommend it!

Tough as nails, beautiful blooms

Love this enough to have added a second to my collection. Year 1 and 2 blooms were deep copper- yellow but have softened to a rich yellow- amber that is just delightful. Constantly in bloom - I'm deadheading it every two days now it's in year 3 (photo attached).

The perfect rose

This was my first rose purchase from heirloom roses and is one of my favorites of my garden. In just 2 years, this rose has given me lots of blooms from spring to fall. It is planted in partial shade and to my surprise, performs very well for me. Also Super disease resistant. While I’ve had issues with black spot with other roses in my garden, this has not given me any grief. Its apricot color is vibrant and beautiful and over all very healthy and prolific.
