Monarda, commonly known as Bee Balm, attracts pollinators with clusters of tubular flowers that form on sturdy stems in showy displays of red, pink, lavender, and white. The aromatic leaves, reminiscent of oregano, give off a delightful fragrance when brushed against. A member of the mint family, Monarda has square stems and a spreading habit, making it a dynamic addition to borders, cottage gardens, or naturalized landscapes.

Growing Tips:

  • Sunlight: Prefers full sun to partial shade; ensure adequate sunlight for robust flowering.
  • Soil: Well-draining, fertile soil is ideal; Monarda appreciates consistent moisture.
  • Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist, especially during dry periods and the blooming season.
  • Hardiness: Monarda is generally hardy in USDA zones 4-9, depending on the species.
