About
A gardening love story.
When we say Heirloom, we mean it.
Over 50 years ago we started selling roses from the front yard of our little white farmhouse outside of Portland, Oregon—the rose capital of the US. Today, the yard looks a little different but the same love and care ships with every product.
So, what starts as a piece of our family, grows into a beautiful piece of yours. Our family heirlooms become yours.
Welcome to the family business
Our flowers are lovingly grown in the fertile Willamette Valley in Oregon. Owners Ben and Kara Hanna continue the legacy of John and Louise Clements who founded the nursery back in 1973 on their own small farm. In fact, our offices are still located in the farmhouse where they lived in St. Paul, Oregon.Today, Ben and Kara have surrounded themselves with team of passionate gardeners that continue to grow and spread the love.
Own-root Roses. No shortcuts.
We’re committed to own-root growing vs grafted plants because it results in plants that are healthier, hardier, and true to variety. Learn more about the difference.
Hard work leads to healthier plants.
We aren’t afraid of doing the hard work to hand-propagate own-root roses (as opposed to grafted roses) because it means that our plants are stronger, hardier, healthier, and representative of their variety.Yes it’s more difficult. But sometimes the hard way is the best way. And we think you’ll see the difference.
