  • Hunter is a hybrid Rugosa with Hybrid Tea-style, double blooms. He is the only true crimson bloom found in the Rugosa category and is very fragrant. Hunter’s 3” blossoms feature 30+ petals set against lovely, shiny, dark green foliage. Expect him to grow to about 5’ x 4’ all the way down to zone 4.

Second year in the ground, only a few morning hours of direct sun..doing great

Hanging in there.

I bought 2 Hunter roses last year late in the season and was not confident that they would winter over in zone 5. To my delight both are blooming(sparsely, but it is mid June). They are in the shade of a huge Linden tree, so any blooms are a bonus! Hoping they will establish enough to winter over again.
