Akadama is a heavy blooming Hydrangea with the most striking colored flowers. Flowers open to deep pink and darken with age. The contrast of color to the clean dark green foliage is stunning. Dense, well-branched compact habit make Akadama perfect for containers and small spaces with its blooms lasting up to two months on sturdy stems. Foliage will turn burgundy in cooler fall and spring temperatures.

So far so good.

Zone 10b. I play fast and loose with hardiness so ordered these as an experiment. Arrived healthy and developed the burgundy foliage during cool first couple of months. Now growing very well in a pot and I see a hint of a bud. I shall move it around and see where it seems happiest. I may fail if we have a hot Summer .
