Avalanche
An heirloom Peony dating back to the 1880s, Avalanche fits her name with cascading petals of bright white on a fully double bloom reaching 6” in diameter. Avalanche is lightly fragrant, has stronger stems for cutting, and features occasional pink lining on the petal tips towards the center. She does best in full sun for zones 3-8.
Please note that Peonies may take several growing seasons to get established before they reward you with armloads of beautiful blooms.
Avalance is sold as one root with 3-5 eyes.
Fall Planting Instructions:
-
Choose an area with at least 6 hours of sunlight with soil that has good drainage.
-
Dig a hole 12-18” deep. Mix soil with an all-purpose fertilizer. Add the amended and loosened soil back into the hole.
-
Place Peony roots 2-3” under the soil line with eyes facing upward, and then gently pack the soil over the roots.
