Colonel Owen Cousins

Note: Peonies start to ship in November based on availability and your zone, unlike other products. Plant around or after your first frost but before the ground freezes.

Colonel Owen Cousins is a classic Peony introduced in 1972. It has large, double blooms in creamy white with a soft hint of salmon near the base of the petals. Flowers reach 8–10" across and have a light, pleasant fragrance. Blooming in late spring on 30–33" stems, it’s hardy in Zones 3–8 and makes a great choice for cut flowers.

Colonel Owen Cousins is sold as one root with 3-5 eyes.

Fall Planting Instructions:

  1. Choose an area with at least 6 hours of sunlight with soil that has good drainage.

  2. Dig a hole 12-18” deep. Mix soil with an all-purpose fertilizer. Add the amended and loosened soil back into the hole.

  3. Place Peony roots 2-3” under the soil line with eyes facing upward, and then gently pack the soil over the roots.

  4. Water well.
