  • About Colonel Owen Cousins
  • Colonel Owen Cousins is a classic Peony introduced in 1972. It has large, double blooms in creamy white with a soft hint of salmon near the base of the petals. Flowers reach 8–10" across and have a light, pleasant fragrance. Blooming in late spring on 30–33" stems, it’s hardy in Zones 3–8 and makes a great choice for cut flowers.

Colonel Owen Cousins is sold as one root with 3-5 eyes.

    Fall Planting Instructions:

    1. Choose an area with at least 6 hours of sunlight with soil that has good drainage.

    2. Dig a hole 12-18” deep. Mix soil with an all-purpose fertilizer. Add the amended and loosened soil back into the hole.

    3. Place Peony roots 2-3” under the soil line with eyes facing upward, and then gently pack the soil over the roots.

    4. Water well.
