Amazing producer

While my whole garden is young (new home purchased in May.) I just planted Francois a few months ago in the Fall. This rose has already given me more blooms than anyone else the whole year. Maybe even more blooms than all of my roses cumulatively. He has a perfect old fashioned shape with beautiful golden stamens and lasts for at least a week in the vase. Currently my blooms are small (maybe 2 inches) but hoping they get bigger with time. The only thing that would make this rose more perfect is a fragrance.

Beautiful!

Received 6 weeks ago. First blossom was perfectly shaped just like the picture. Second blossom has guard petals and classically “quartered” with 6 divisions. It’s better than perfect! The color is a dark true red. Size is 2 inches across. I love it! 4 more buds have already formed. Leaves are shiny green. It arrived at the hottest week of Texas summer. It is growing great!

Nice potted rose for a sunny deck.

We purchased this rose when Heirloom Gardens was still open to the public and my husband chose Francois Rabelais because it was red in color and was greatly reduced in price. I planted it in a pot and began my rehabilitation. I was amazed that it recovered so well.
It does tend to get black spot every spring in our wet Pacific Northwest climate. In spite of that, the flowers are beautiful, stay on the stems for much longer than other varieties and keep their red color. There is not any scent that I can detect. It grows similar to a floribunda with many flowers on each stem but looks more like and English Rose.
