I cannot comment on blooms because Grande Dame was just planted 3 weeks ago, but, she is putting out lovely new, red growth and looks very healthy with a huge amount of leaves. Hoping she will be healthy as in my zone, 6A, we tend to get a lot of black spot. Time will tell, but, for now she's looking great. Thanks Heirloom for sending such good roses.
I live in Southern California, and I bought 3 of these bushes about 1.5 years ago. All 3 are thriving. The blooms are large and wonderfully fragrant. I clipped 6 gorgeous blooms and gave them to my mom for Mother’s Day —she loved them.
Planted this in a container in June (late for zone 7) and was surprised how well it did, even in relentless hear. Most fragrant rose I’ve ever had. Big dramatic blooms. Will order another one this year!
I planted this rose earlier this year along with about a dozen other varieties and Grand Dame has been the highest performer by far, Even today (11/9) I cut over a dozen blooms with a dozen more buds coming (zone 9a). It is a beautiful clear pink and so fragrant, It has been been completely pest and disease free, even when I've had problems with aphids or other issues on the roses next to her. Literally couldn't ask for more from a rose. She is very thorny though - but we all can be prickly at times so I forgive her for that!
