I grew Proud Land when we lived in zone 7a and it was stunning, but when we moved to zone 8b, I was afraid it would be too hot. I'm delighted that this rose has come through with its lovely blooms even in this hot climate. It does slow down a bit when the heat is blazing and I do give it afternoon shade, but it picks up again when the weather cools down and provides another show at the end of summer and through the fall.
The most awesome rose we have ever had!!!!!
Zone 9
I bought this bush back in the 1970's. Using Miracle-Gro as directed I was able to cut 12 roses at one time from this bush. I looked for many years after I had to give up my rose garden and am now able to begin again. I found this bush at Lowe's Garden Center yesterday and bought it. 3 strong canes made me realize that I could have my beautiful rose bush back again. I highly recommend having this rose in anyone's garden.
