Of all the roses I have this one is most often requested as a cutting. I have been reluctant to do this because I actually want to move the bush. It is about 3 feet tall with wide arching canes. The area where it is planted has become shady over the years and it still blooms although the blooms are not a big. Sooo. This year I will move it and cut it back... I hope it does OK. I purchased this plant over 10 years ago as a bare root at a big box store. I was well aware of its magnificence and it has not disappointed. Pretty disease resistant and will take some shade. I live in Zone 8a on the eastern shore so it can take a little salt spray too. Yes the fragrance and magenta color are legendary!
I had this rose at my previous house, it was disease free and bloomed beautifully year after year. I planted it over 25 years ago. Great fragrance and very showy blooms.I lived in Zone 18.
Hurry and cultivate new plants, I want one for the new house!!!
Beautiful, vigorous rose. Foliage is lush deep green leaves. Profuse bloomer, bush is always covered with gorgeous violet magenta blooms.
