Her clusters are produced in abundance on a vigorous, continually blooming, upright bush with beautiful, medium-green, glossy, leathery foliage. The thick canes are covered with nail-like prickles which makes Robusta an excellent fence, hedge, or impenetrable barrier. She thrives in colder zones and needs little care to thrive and grow.

All our roses are packaged to arrive healthy, hydrated, and ready for planting. We’ve also done away with single-use plastic. All our roses are shipped in recyclable boxes, compostable bags, and a zip tie dyed with natural food coloring. Your rose will look bare when it arrives, but that’s intentional. We defoliate our roses prior to shipping so they hold on to their moisture and stay healthy during transit. Each box comes with planting instructions. Follow those and you’ll see new growth in no time because roses simply want to grow.

Yes, fall is actually one of the best times to plant. Cooler temperatures let roses focus on building strong roots instead of supporting leaves and blooms, giving them a head start before winter. That means faster growth and fuller blooms come spring.

How do I know if a rose is going to do well in the area I'm going to plant it?

To give your rose the best chance of thriving in your garden, ensure that you’re selecting varieties that will do well in your region. You can do this by shopping for roses suited to your hardiness zone. Once your zone is selected, we’ll help you find the perfect rose for your garden, one that can withstand the summer and winter temperatures where you live.

Roses love sunlight. Choose a spot in your garden or on your balcony/patio that gets at least six hours of sunlight a day, this promotes growth and helps to keep fungal diseases at bay. Soil is the next important factor to consider for roses. Well-draining, loamy soil is preferable because roses love water, but hate wet feet. Give them at least 1”-2” of water per week throughout the growing season and water newly planted roses 2-3 times per week until established. Remember to water at the base, not overhead, to discourage potential disease and improve root growth.

How do I plant a rose?

To plant your rose, first find the right location. Pick a spot with well-draining soil that receives at least 6 hours of sunlight a day. Once you’ve found the perfect spot, you’re ready to plant.

Dig a hole that’s at least 2’ wide and 2’ deep. Add organic potting soil to the hole, making sure it does not contain granular fertilizer, which can burn tender roots in the first year. Remove the rose from its compostable bag or container and set it in the hole, about an inch deeper than the soil line. Backfill the hole and water your rose thoroughly.

Newly planted roses should be watered 2-3 times per week until established. Water at the base to encourage root establishment and watch your rose thrive.

Bullet proof beauty

If you are looking for a beautiful red, deer proof, hardy, very large vase shaped rose that blooms throughout summer.. this is the one! The first bloom in spring is the largest, but does reward you throughout the season into fall. The thorns on this rose are formidable and once large enough, the deer can"t reach the foliage on top or penetrate the canes due to the thorns. I'm in northern California and my 12 year old roses around my property are still healthy, disease free and are a good 7 ft tall and 7ft diameter on top, 3-3 1/2 at the base.

Stunning single red

This lovely rose has flat scarlet open blooms saturated with color. It is an easy bush to care for as it is tolerant of some shade, strong winds, severe cold, and black spot. A very easy, gorgeous flowered rose you must see in person to really appreciate.

Terrific Rose, We have 3 of them here in northern Wisconsin, and they winter very well virtually bug free. Best fertilizer for we found was bayer rose.

Best Red Rose I've Ever Grown!

Without a doubt, this is an excellent, tough, surprisingly gorgeous red rose! Mine grows, with very little attention from me, in a very windy location, and it has triumphed through wind, snow, ice, and hail here in my Finger Lakes area of NY state garden. Probably the worst weather condition plants in my garden face is a fierce wind - we are on an ooen hilltop. I had no idea that it would be so tall (you can use it as a climber, if you can brave the thorns to tie it up), or that it would have such a pleasant (but mild) rose fragrance. The thorns on this baby are truly a force to be reckoned with, though - don't grow it where little kids - or anyone else - is likely to get punctured! In my fantasy garden, I would use these to surround my vegetable garden, providing a living fence against critters of all sorts. It gets a little mangy looking as the summer wears on, and while it does get aphids they don't seem to bother it much; I hack off the top third or so of the tallest canes regularly, after a flush of blooms is done, and this baby just comes back with more. Starts early, stays late to the party!
