I planted this rose last summer and it struggled. It was down to one tiny little twig and was barely hanging on. It shot up this spring vigorously and is now one of the prettiest roses I have in my garden. My husband, who could care less about roses, fell in love with it.
I woke up this morning to Impressionist’s first bloom! I have her climbing on a fence and she’s done lovely in zone 8a even planted mid-summer.
This is one of my favorite roses. The colors of the bud to the new flowers are so vibrant. They remind me of a Caribbean sunset on St. John USVI. I have bought this rose twice. The first rose I had a hard time with black spot. I have been proactive with the second one and it’s working. I really enjoy these blooms. For me in Maine, it doesn’t grow like a climber but that is okay with me.
