  • A rare sport of the outstanding, hardy shrub rose Westerland, Autumn Sunset® is a blend of rich apricot and golden yellow. Her ruffled, semi-double, 5” blooms with 20-25 petals were discovered by long time rose grower Mike Lowe of New Hampshire. This rose has everything: wonderful fragrance, great winter hardiness, outstanding disease resistance (especially to blackspot). This is a continual blooming beauty perfect for zones 5-10.

Finally Found One!

I moved to the Puget Sound region in 2007, and discovered that roses can be very difficult here, due to the often cloudy, cool and wet weather (we're on the west side of the Sound, and we're Zone 7-8.) Exploring the area north of Seattle one day I noticed that several homes featured a beautiful Apricot rose that seemed to do very well - always the same rose. Because I'd decided on painting our new home a dark coffee brown I thought an apricot colored rose would look great against the brown. I began asking around, and most suggested it was probably 'Autumn Sunset' as that is known to do well here. I searched for over a year, but but nobody had any in stock. Checking back this past Fall I finally found one here at Heirloom Roses and jumped on it right away. The order came quicky, and I planted it in a very large ceramic pot out on the back patio, where it will get Southern exposure and the most sun. Because this rose is known for doing alright in shadier and cooler conditions, I'm very hopeful. I'm going to see how long it will live in a pot, and if necessary I'll plant it on the property - we do have deer problems and roses have been problematic for that reason as well, so I'm hoping on the patio I can protect it. I'm really excited about my Autumn Sunset!

Great disease resistant rose

Love this rose. Several have been in my front yard for years. They are blooming now
and passers-by stop to smell them. Cheerful color for rainy days. Only wish their first flush lasted longer here in D.C. area (zone 7.)

Coastal allstar

Growing roses at the coast can be a challenge with the cool, wet weather. I never spray so black spot can wipe out most roses but Autumn Sunset handles the challenge admirably. Healthy, strong plant is covered with fragrant, beautiful blooms. Has been growing here for years and just keeps getting bigger and better. Highly recommend.
