  • Other Details
  • Quietness is a profusely blooming variety and one of Griffith Buck’s most lovely creations. Noted for her fully double, soft pink flowers with a rich center, she is reminiscent of the beautiful old Hybrid Tea rose 'Royal Highness.'  With a long bloom period, Quietness is a robust, low-maintenance shrub rose with glossy, medium green foliage and excellent disease resistance.

Fantastic!

My first year of roses in many years; what a great experience. It is September in Zone 4 and it is blooming like mad!

Bountiful stunner!

Zone 8b here and this rose has been amazing! Gets full sun, plenty of humidity and still cranks out the gorgeous blooms all summer! Mine is probably closer to 5” tall, nice and full. If I had more space I get loads more of these- and the flowers have great vase life along with lovely scent! A must grow!

Very healthy Hardy rose

Very healthy rose. Survived zone 5 winter without protection. All canes are still beautifully green! Can’t wait for this year’s bloom!

Lovely, hardy rose

This is my second summer with Quietness here in zone 5b (central Iowa). She grew to about 3 feet last year, I provided a little extra mulch but no coverage over winter, did not prune in the spring, and gave maybe one or two light feeds at the beginning of the season but no more. She's now topping out at about 4.5 feet and is about 3 feet around. First blooms appear in May, as I write this in mid-September she is still covered in blooms with more on the way. The fragrance is lovely but not overpowering- if I sit inside with my windows open you will occasionally get a waft of their lovely smell. The cool pink color is gorgeous, especially at dusk.
I have had a few issues, mostly due to my own inexperience with roses. Last spring was very damp and warm so we had a bit of powdery mildew, which I treated with Neem oil. A couple of rounds of this were sufficient to get her through until the drier season. This spring she got walloped by Sawfly larvae, which I didn't treat early enough- but she pulled through regardless. Japanese beetles love the blooms of course, but don't effect the growth.
All in all I would recommend Quietness to anyone looking for a beginner friendly rose bush for a classic, cottage-garden feel. She looks particularly lovely in combination with my lavender and penstemon onyx and pearls.
