Capital Dome

Note: Peonies start to ship in November based on availability and your zone, unlike other products. Plant around or after your first frost but before the ground freezes.

Capital Dome is a classic, bomb-shaped Peony introduced in 1979 by Myron Bigger. Its huge, fully double blooms measure about 10″ across and are creamy white with a faint yellow base. A soft fragrance rises from the lush petals, and the flowers appear in mid-spring on sturdy 36″ stems with glossy green foliage. Hardy in Zones 3–8, Capital Dome is popular for its showy blooms and works beautifully in cut arrangements. This hard-to-find variety has limited quantities.

Capital Dome is sold as one root with 3-5 eyes.

Fall Planting Instructions:

  1. Choose an area with at least 6 hours of sunlight with soil that has good drainage.

  2. Dig a hole 12-18” deep. Mix soil with an all-purpose fertilizer. Add the amended and loosened soil back into the hole.

  3. Place Peony roots 2-3” under the soil line with eyes facing upward, and then gently pack the soil over the roots.

  4. Water well.
