Beautiful disease resistant rose, Leaves are beautiful all season and blooms all season for me in 7A Pennsylvania. One of my favorites, so much so I planted more.
I got two DA roses in the mid of November. They did not have any leaves. A month later both roses are double in size and have buds! Olivia Austin is one of them. I keep them inside under grow lights till spring. This is my first year of experimenting with roses inside the house. Hope to see their first bloom soon! Will definetely buy more.
I’ve had this rose planted in morning sunlight in my 9b US clay for seven years, grafted. It is covered in blossoms and buds from Spring through Fall, and a few blooms in December. Like my other David Austins, it is more than double the size they predict, 8’ tall and 6’ wide. I like cut flowers, but in my dry climate, they tend to shatter. So I immerse the entire flower overnight in water and they stay pretty longer. My daughter loves it so much, I gave an Heirloom one to her for Christmas this year to plant in her yard. It came carefully packed and promised new growth. I am sure it will start to give her her own flowers by next summer. My whole neighborhood loves this rose and you will too.
This is a review of a grafted Olivia I bought before I discovered Heirloom and planted in my 9b clay. The rosebush is 6’x6’ even with pruning. It gets hot and dry here in the summer but with drip irrigation and feeding, the bush is covered in innocent pink blossoms, which repeat. Heirloom’s photos are so accurate. It is almost Christmas and the last few booms are just over. I love cut flowers in my home but Olivia is not long lasting without help in my dry climate. I cut the stems under water and then immerse the whole rose, blossom and all, overnight, then each night put the arrangement in the refrigerator until the next morning, and they last 3 or 4 days. Everyone loves this rosebush, and I do too.I just received another one from Heirloom to gift to my daughter.
