Considering it had no leaves when it arrived last week, it is beginning to perk up and leaf out.
I can't wait to see the colors of this Nile rose. I just cannot resist the colors in this rose. I'm in Zone Nine A and the sun and humidity are terrible.
I guess I was lucky to get my orders in when I did. So far every one I am leaving a review for are sold out.
This is definitely my favorite place to buy those from.
First two pictures "Buxom Beauty" and "Star of the Nile" August 2023, second picture June 2024. My journey began in January 2023 "dreaming." In April I purchased "Star of the Nile" and "Buxom Beauty." Received "Amazing Grace" as a gift. Planted in May 2023. Turns out not enough sunlight. Transplated in September 2023. Wintered them with burlap. Pictured just before I took their burlap blankets off late March. They are really doing well even with all the wind we get here in eastern Oregon. So far very thankful for my little rose garden!
It’s mid-September and 90+ degrees every day. I’ve had this rose for three weeks now, the first two weeks I left her in the grower’s pot, then transferred to a 3 gallon “temporary” pot filled with organic mix. Star has taken off like a rocket, pardon the expression. She has two magnificent blooms and one bud already. As soon as I have her permanent home ready, I’ll be planting her in the ground, and using the wonderful Heirloom soil supplements and trying the deer repellent. Thanks to our intense heat and sun, the blooms open fast. It will be interesting to see how long they last once it starts cooling down.
Pink isn't my favorite color for roses, but the brilliance and reviews of Star of the Nile made me take a chance on her. I frequently display my roses by wearing them in my hair or pinning them to my blouse and I've gotten my share of compliments on them. But, I was bowled over by the number of people who stopped me to exclaim their delight over Star of the Nile. From the Uber driver who picked me up to the customers at the CVC and Walmart, to my daughter and her in-laws, I got a steady stream of admiration for this pink glowing beauty I clipped to my hair. I made sure I gave Heirloom the credit, so don't be surprised if there's an uptick in interest from Coastal Texas. I've never had so many compliments over any other rose before. Her vivid pink color is gorgeous, but her scent is intoxicating as well. Her blooms do seem to glow, even in our current heat wave. Stunning beauty!
